what, little, here, was, she, has, look, with, me, my, where

Please review Sight words nightly - I cannot express how important knowledge of the sight words is to your child's success in kindergartenEasy recognition of sight words increases your child's fluency and comprehension while reading.

Reviewing sight words should only take 5 minutes.  Please do not teach your child to sound out these words.  They should recognize the word quickly from memory when you see it.  If you go over them once nightly your child will know the words.

The easiest way to practice is as follows:
Show your child the card *if they know the word  - go to the next sight word card *if they do
not - You say the word
          The child repeats the word
Move on to the next word.

Please read your child's story book with them each night.  Have them point to the words as they read.    Ask them questions about the story:
Who is the main character?  What is the setting?  What was your favorite part of
the story and why?    Does this book make you think of anything that happened to you?
Why do you think the author wrote this story?  Have your child tell you what
happened at the beginning, middle, and end of the story.  what might happen if
there was another page to the story?
